Let me tell you a story…
When I was 29, my mom died suddenly of a massive heart attack. Twelve years later, I still remember so vividly the days and weeks that followed that moment… Unfortunately, tragedy can scar you like that.
My year 29 was supposed to be amazing.
Perfect.
Joyful.
It was supposed to be…but God had other plans.
That was the year, the season, the moments where I was stripped completely naked, robbed of everything in my life that was supposed to bring me Joy. My world stopped.
And in some cases, turned completely backwards.
I was in a painful, complicated, hurtful and awful place where I could not possibly find Joy.
Except….through God.
And quite frankly, looking back, that was a pivotal moment in my life where I learned what having a relationship with Jesus was really about.
I remember the moments after her heart attack where I begged God to save her, cursed Him for taking her, cried to Him in grief, and then later on, Thanked Him for receiving her. In those moments and many months later, I had came full circle from anger to Joy. It was in the deepest and hardest moments of my life, that God somehow revealed to me that He is GOOD.
Let me say that again. HE. IS. GOOD.
And a GOOD God is still good even through bad, hard, messy things.
Fast forward sometime after Mom died, God laid a verse on my heart. It was one of those things where He put it in front of me, over and over, time and time again. Everywhere I turned it seemed, that verse was pressed into me. I personally don’t believe in coincidence, but rather intentionality by our Creator, and I know that He wanted me to live this verse fully.
You may be familiar….
Psalm 34:8. “Oh, taste and see the Goodness of the Lord. Blessed is the man who trust in Him”.
What a beautiful verse, and more so, that entire Chapter of Psalm 34. If you are not familiar, in Psalm 34, David eloquently expresses his gratitude of deliverance from his enemies. Verse 8, my favorite, “Oh, taste and see the goodness of the Lord”, reminding us that God is good and we can literally taste His goodness, see and feel His goodness. He is by virtue of Himself, Good. Everything He created is Good, and He even tells us that seven times in His story of creation, Genesis Chapter one.
God is Good.
So what does this mean, and what does this have to do with this blog? Everything, actually….
We 3 Taste & See was born from Psalm 34:8. We LOVE to travel and we LOVE God and we believe that He is using this family of three to His Glory as we taste and see His goodness and share our experiences and what we have seen with everyone. We invite you to join us as #SheelerPartyof3 travels the world seeking out our Creator’s goodness in all of His creation.
Now, come with us…Go, Taste and See the Goodness of God. Blessed is the man who trust in Him”.
In Christ,
“We 3, Taste & See”
